Ryan was bit by the fateful spider one year ago when
he was 12. A month after that he lost his dad because he was too scared to save him from a fire. Venom was sent by Knull as banishment for its violent behavior. Ryan's fatal flaw is that he would do anything to save people, even if it cost him his life. He loses this when bonded which is the reason he electrocutes it getting rid of it temporarally.
