"While silently studying an underground city over a period of around a week, I saw what I assumed to just be another regular Sculk Seeker convoy returning from a search for warped shards, but on closer inspection this group contained a few other entities I have not yet encountered before. One entity in particular had notably more robust skeletal protrusions across its body, forming makeshift natural armour plating. Quite interesting were the bones around its arms, which looked almost like an additional pair of spinal cords. What could the purpose of such excessive spiny structures be? I'll have to observe them longer.

Well, I didn't need to wait long for an answer. In the rushed excitement of scribbling down notes, I accidentally dropped my ink & quill off the ledge I was looking down from. Not 10 ticks after hitting the ground, the entity I will now refer to as a Shatterspine whirled around, extended it's bony arm protrusions like whips, and slashed the ground where they landed with enough force to send deepslate shards hurtling through the air. I will certainly be studying much quieter from now on!"

that is a fair justification for making these. I can get these fellas making ancient cities although figuring out how they were abandoned is ultimately up to you, and I'll be very interested to see you work your magic with the sculk itself
I do have some ideas for their potential function, inhabitants, and eventual downfall. All cities are made to be inhabited, otherwise they would just be called a facility or complex, so at some point there should have been a race living at such ruined sites deep underground and I'm sure Mojang has something in mind for this. The time setting of this personal take on the sculk combined with the lack of information we have gives me alot of freedom to make concepts that aren't really true or false until Mojang releases more information. Although for now they will simply be lore fragments in the descriptions of skins I make.

The way I see it, the cities had to have been built by *something*, much like the nether structures were. The lore around each skin I've made and will continue to make is my own take on how they functioned at the time they were still inhabited, long before the current timeline of the game. That said, without finite lifespans, perhaps the explorer above might still be alive

okay now mate the concept and storyline around these things makes the skins better. end of sentence.

no way in hell am I not going to say "I'd want this as a minecraft series"
