jeez. write a novel please XD ~jade
Start at the bottom and work your way up it is a cliff hanger, but I do thank anyone that did read and somehow got through it.
View point change. Cal pulls the gun up and mumbles silently to himself. His eyes tell me to run, but I don’t want to. He needs to see that I didn’t mean it, it just happened. I was scared and desperate. I knew this would happen, but… I... close... my eyes... and I wait… and... wait.
“You’re a scout. I trusted you and you become a scout, Mouse. I know it… but... I don’t...” My hand brings the hammer of the gun back. She choose their side. She stabbed me in the back. I told her... warned her. I get it though, she wanted to see her sister as much as I my mother. I will never see mom so I can’t loses Mouse, I love her. But it’s too late, she needs to go.
View point change. I listened to her story as she shakes and sways from side-to-side. Dodging what I already know. She’s a stinking, dirty scout. She hiding it from me but if she just told me, even now, maybe I could forgive her. But she won’t, it's against the rules of the oath she blindly took code.
“You're a bad liar.” His hand goes to his gun. “How about you tell me the truth, and you might not die.”
I open the door and ask dumbly, “Cal, Are you Home?”
He yells from the kitchen, “Yeah, Come here please.”
I take a breath and set aside the supplies for the next week. “Coming...”, breath little Laik, Breath. “What is i…”, he stands there, by his gun, watching my every step, not looking at my face.
“Where were you?”
“At the store.”
“You were gone for a while.”
“Yeah, there wasn’t any wool up front so I had to beg.”
He was suppose to be at the salt mine for another two hours, that’s what he said. But he must have lied or was sent home... The curtains in the house shuffle and make me stop in the street. He’s watching me, what do I do? I need a story, I’ll say I went to the hospital. I did go to there, I was running low on starch, wool, and flour. I was gone for awhile though, and the hospital is only six blocks away. I don’t know how long he’s been here, I might be lucky and get away with it.
“Mis. Laik I hope you have a better excuse than that,” she smiles. “Good to see you little sis, I hope you have a full report this time.”
The connection cuts off after forty-six minutes, like always. I walk back to the Calvin’s house to start my daily routine, but something’s wrong. I feel it in the air, and I’m pretty sure it's not toxic cloud leaking into my mask. I bought this thing a week ago, but then I see it, Calvin was home unusually early.
“You’re late.” Gregg closes the door behind him and walks to the far back corner. I stand on my spot facing the screen with my hands folded in front. I look back at Gregg.
“So what, I couldn’t get out of Cal’s sight for the past..” The screen blinks on and Mis. Niss, my older sister, stands in the same position but in a uniform. I stand before her in red and purple rags.
