The dragon knocked Dusk backwards and she lay on the ground, unconscious. Blood stained the soil. With my arm bleeding like that, we had no chance. No hope. The dragon used its huge tail to knock me backwards and I flew onto the ground, not bothering to struggle.

Dusk slashed at the dragon's paw, but it didn't even notice. It did notice her, unfortunately, and nearly took her head off-but she leaped out of the way just in time, and the creature's scythe-like claw sliced through thin air.

The dragon's claw grazed my arm, but even though it was a light touch for the beast, it nearly cut through my arm and I fell to the ground, blood staining the dirt red.

I caught of a flash of a human figure in the dragon's mouth-it had brown or red hair, it was hard to tell with the dragon roaring-but the creature slammed its paw onto the ground and I was thrown back. Flames burned by back and and I jumped up, aiming my bow.

Flames licked at my feet as if attempting to eat me whole, but I froze, unable to move. "DAWN!"Dusk screamed, and pulled me back. Another roar pierced the air, and some sort of dragon crashed through the bushes. It was unimaginably huge, with black, red and orange scales dulled by years of hiding in the forest.
