"Stay back!"I hollered as it silently trotted forward, and, to my surprise, laughed-a deep, rumbling laugh. "I am Rivershadow,"it answered in a feminine yet not human voice. "Wha-you can talk??!!"I asked, almost screaming. I had seen some pretty strange things, but that was to be expected, because I was special. A daughter of Hades. People marveled at how I had survived this long, what with the monsters tracking me. But this wolf was not to be expected.

specters. "Who's there?" I shouted. I was terrified, but determined to find what it was. I didn't want it to attack my home, and if it even thought about it, I had a little trick up my sleeve. I froze when I heard rustling in the bushes closest to me. A canine muzzle peeked out. I sighed in relief, although I wasn't sure this was a regular wolf. I yelled as it leaped out of the lush vegetation, my sword crackling with silvery mist.

I smiled as I walked through the deep woods, occasionally seeing splatters of sunlight through the dense green leaves. I came to a flowing river when I noticed it was getting dark. I needed to get back to my house. Suddenly, I heard a low growl. I took my necklace with a minuscule onyx skull on it and, with shaking hands, slowly rubbed it. With a flash of light, it transformed into a huge onyx sword, glowing in the moonlight. The silver handle was carefully polished and carved with skulls and...
