Along the way, he was bitten by Velkan Valerious' werewolf form and infected with lycanthropy. This misfortune turned to serendipity, as the heroes learned that only werewolf venom could kill Dracula. Utililizing his werewolf form, Van Helsing managed to kill Dracula, and was cured of lycanthropy shortly afterwards, thanks to Anna Valerious' sacrifice.
