here's the steps i follow though
1. make a very simply light sourced skin base(4-6 colors ranging from light to dark with no shading)
2. make the outfit design/hair/accessories/etc on the second layer and progressively tint everything to match the skin color
3. shade the skin(you will need to modify your shading style slightly and make colors in between to make things smooth)
4. shade the outfit/hair
5. copy the outfit/hair shading onto the first layer and keep what's needed on the second layer
Light sourcing is hard, and it takes practice, but I can make a skin explaining it with some visual examples and tips if you want!!
for the lighter (original side) the lighter i make the color (usually only to up) i make the contrast from the original color more, and when making the original color darker for shading, i make the difference less
for the darker side this is the exact opposite!! to show they're different.
if you want an obvious split, REALLY emphasize that difference between light and dark, if you want a subtle split, make the difference less! maybe even blend the two colors together!! by making the darker side a little bit lighter in the middle and the lighter side a bit darker in the other middle!
(continuing)
i just realized the split of one side darker one side lighter i do on my skins is considered light sourcing...
ANYWAYS because i do it in every single one of my skins i can help you with yours i think pretty well!! ^^
from what i can tell this looks AMAZING and i can't really see anything much "wrong" with this
a tip would maybe be for the hair that's on her shoulders make the middle piece a tad bit lighter but that's more of a shading tip so you don't have to litsen
Something I do with the colors, however, is have a respected "opposite" color for all of them!!
what i mean by this is i usually go for the lighter side being my original color (it's easiest for me) and then an "opposite" which is darker!
how do you know where to start though?
