A little piece of history: the kind of clothing that was popular with young men circa 2002. I used to see this kind of outfit at supermarkets.

This particular hairstyle was derived from the curly look given to the hobbits in Lord of the Rings. It was immensely popular after the first movie came out, as were peasant blouses and "Arwen sleeves". Tank tops and cargo pants were both carryovers from the late 90s, but with a twist: after 9/11, it became common to emblazon clothes with faux military iconography (hence the star), and a lot of clothing was made in either camo print or military green. Bright orange became popular, and the two were often paired.

The shirt is a little bit fantastical - realistically it would probably have had green trim, rather than a logo. Most tops with military logos were a muted tan/brown color, with green accents. But I liked this idea so that's what I went with.
