Given the gauntlet

*Continuing from the second chapter*
The shield broke and we flew out. Then we landed in a meadow. Well, I landed. Elizabeth floated down. "Ow," I grumbled.
"You'll be fine," Elizabeth said.
"Who are you anyway?"
"I am the granddaughter of Merlin the magician, and you may call me Merlina," she answered.
"Merlina, huh? Great. I'm Switcher2! Now, you said something about a sword. Where are we going?"
"To the lady of the lake, she has the sword."
"Great! Then let's-"
"Wait!"
She put a gauntlet on my right hand.
"For the sword."
"Nice. Now, let's go!"
We went off toward the lake, where the lady of the lake will be waiting for us.
