shadow was made by Gerald robotnik. Gerald had a daughter named Maria, this character btw. anyways shadow was funded by G.U.N as a weapon but Gerald wanted to cure his granddaughter. eventually G.U.N raided the space colony arc and killed maria, taking Gerald as prisoner. Gerald, feeling like he got stabbed in the back by G.U.N decided to make blueprints for the eclipse canon, which was secretly programmed to crash into the earth, killing everyone
