Chapter Four: Outcast

I've never known Ellarie Brunner. I've never seen her either. So why do I feel like I know her? Anyone else who tried to answer this question would say, "Your last names are the same." But that doesn't help. Brunner is a very common last name. In fact, there are two other girls in my class (Whom are not related to each other) that have the last name Brunner as well: Rose Brunner and Lea Brunner.
My parents are divorced. I live with my dad, whose brown hair and green eyes I have. I don't really remember my mom, just that she had blonde hair, blue eyes, and a warm smile. Dad almost never contacts Mom, by choice. The last time I heard them talk was three years ago, and they were crying. All I heard was "car crash" and "wheelchair". Afterwards I asked Dad what the call was about, and he told me that it didn't matter. Dad never tells me anything. He says that I have to stop obsessing with the past.
Amy is my step-mother. She's Japanese-American. She and Dad had a child together, Emily, who is five right now. Amy is nice, but she won't treat me the same as Emily. It makes me feel like an outcast. What I need right now is my mom. My real mom.
