she’s nona’s childhood friend
here’s how i described her in my second draft-
Mandy was a little younger than Nona, by about a month and a half. She had glorious frizzy, brunette hair, hazel eyes, and tan skin, and she adored jewelry and crafts. She wore her creations almost every day, and she hopes to one day become a famous designer. “Just like Beyonc!” she would say. Nona wasn’t quite sure Mandy knew who Beyonc was, but she thought it was funny that Mandy said that quite frequently.
