Sirens are a mythical species commonly originated to greek and roman mythology. These creatures, commonly depicted with having the upper half being a human and their lower half being a bird or fish. Generally depicted as being beautiful in original texts they were fabled to live on islands and lure sailors to their death by treachoreus water with their song. Later certain films popularised them and made them known for being half fish half woman.
Couldn't find too much stuff on this so idk if its true but
Sirens were apparently also (in groman and egyptian mythology) creatures who would lead the dead to the afterlife.
