Yea, it is intense, but it really is great once you get to an older age. I first read it about 2 years ago (a bit longer), but I was 17, although I had kind of no clue what I was getting into (I had just reread LOTR and the Hobbit and was desperate to know the backstory of it all, so I just picked it up and read it). I kind of fell in love with it while reading it. The characters were VERY interesting and were likable, and the message behind it literally brought me to my knees. One guy said if you get the true meaning of it, it will guaranteed bring you to your knees in sheer amazement at how great the book it. It did. The book goes over so much, we have villains, heroes, and antiheroes all together in a huge world. It really is amazing, and a message for our times.

Wow. Okay, yeah, not just violence. Well, I have no doubt it will be good, but I think I might just wait a while. You're right, that sounds about adult, sadly I'm not there yet. :'( That description of it kind of reminded me of Sodom and Gomorrah from the Bible. ;:o Koolaid, that's awesome how that book shows what it's like without God, gives a bit of healthy fear of being without God. Thank you for telling me, it's nice to know where that book stands. Now I know it is definitely for adults.

Yea, also it does have some more things than just brutal violence.... It gets a bit.... eh, scary. It deal with a lot of real issues today, and can get intense with some themes (if you want to know an overview of the most violent things, a guy is basically drowned in his own blood, a guy kills his best friend, a guy marries his sister, really kind and heroic people have mental breakdowns and go on a kill sprees against other heroes , several characters commit suicide, a guy marries his cousin, human sacrifices, and torture are some things in it). It is ultimately a story of chaos, tragedy, and ultimately, destruction without God. I will tell you, the main part of it doesn't have the happiest ending, but that is where LOTR and the Hobbit come in, to give the happy ending.

Well, if it's only brutal deaths and violence, I think I could probably read it. I've lots of that junk. A bit too much maybe. :/

Hmmm, still getting through the whole Bible. I wanted to read the whole thing before my confirmation.

Also, if you want some backstory on Beren, he is a legendary hero. Frodo even mentions him in Lord of the Rings. Beren faced off many villains, including Sauron, Carcharoth the Wolf of Angband, and even Morgoth, the embodiment of Original Sin itself. He is really epic.

It is really awesome! You should read it when you get older. Yea, it does have some "stuff" in it that is more adult (e.g. Intense Violence, many main characters dying in brutal ways, adult themes). But it is REALLY GOOD, and SOLID Catholic. And it also contains in it tons of truths on like... everything! Collectively, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion cover basically all the problems the world has today, from AI takeover to gender insanity, to finding purity, to finding God, and many other things! It really is a 10/10 book. It really is divinely inspired. Also, if you can handle reading the Bible, you can handle the Silmarillion, that is about the level it is at.
