"Skylark! Troutspirit! Skylark! Troutspirit!"
The Clan yowled their warrior names in applause.
Troutspirit looked proudly around, trotting across the clearing with her chin in the air.
Skylark followed emotionlessly, avoiding the gaze of every cat as though fearing they would suddenly turn on her.
"I'm so excited!" Troutspirit exclaimed as she padded into the warriors' den with Skylark, finding an unoccupied nest and claiming it.
Skylark set her own bedding down in an isolated spot.
"We're warriors now!" Troutspirit continued to chat, "We can go out to hunt whenever we want, not having Shellberry to tell us what to do."
Skylark tried not to think about how her sister was saying "we" but only referring to her own situation. She determinedly focused on kneading her bedding into a comfortable position, trying her best to ignore Troutspirit.
