I have a trolley problem for you.

You see 4 people tied to a track. The trolley is coming for them. You've heard it before. Just pull the lever and kill the one guy. That guy is a ******. How does he even get stuck there? Such a ******. Maybe he wants to get stuck here? He has never felt love. Maybe you feel sympathy for him? "Yeah I'll let this veteran, father of 2 children, doctor and a hard working widow die for a ******". Did you change your mind? Do you wanna pull it again? His blood will be on your hands but you should pull it? Well he accepts that. He wants you to pull it. He has no friends. No one. Not yet at least. He might get someone in the future. Do you still wanna pull the lever?
If you don't want to pull the lever I'll convince you one more time. Do you want to know why this man is so hated, unloved?

Someone died because of him. His sister. He was supposed to pick up his sister from school but he didn't. He was out with friends. "She can wait, it's not like her teachers would let anyone take her". Her teachers let a man take her. The hardworking widow is one of those teachers. Who is in the wrong?

Tell me, do you pull it?

(This is not a puzzle, it's a survey)

Oh yeah I'd stop the trolley, I'm driving
Interesting
i would pull it, as only one person dies yet 4 lived, you also specified on how the guy wanted the lever to be pulled aswell,
just- who decided that lives have a cost? think about it, if you want to pull the lever you're basically sayingsomeone is worth less. it doesnt matter less than what, just the fact that you can think that you can value a person, as a human being yourself. but everyone has a future they havent lived up to yet, and in the end you are ending them. the best solution would be to stop the train completley. maybe you're tall enough for the conductor to see and you can get his attention, maybe you can try derailing the train by switching the lever halfway and hope the crash wont be fatal for any passangers. of course, that probably isnt an option.
its midnight againnn and ive been thinkingggg
for me its more a problem of morality because i have to reevalute my definitions of causation or inaction. i still think causation is not the same as inaction. if i was to sacrifice the one person, i would be directly causing the death of a person in a very vigilante-esque maneuver -- basically deciding to enforce my idea of justice -- whereas inaction can be excused. maybe i was in shock, maybe i didnt reach the lever in time, etc. maybe its selfish but i dont think i can play god and decide to value a life over others. in addition, possible repercussions are minimal if i dont directly murder a man.
+ what if the man on the rails finds a future cure to cancer? then his life would be worth at least as much as the lives of the people he saves.
I'd pull it.(IDK why :p)
because (if im understanding this right) it would only kill 1 person and not 4
Tiny question, why?
I like how you both have different answers. Both make sense.
pull it.
