unhelpful shading tips

Yes, I know you are so much better at shading than me.

This is only to try to teach you my hideous shading style; and I know you are like, “how is this supposed to help me?”

You can observe.
That part? area? thingy where the arm meets the body is darker to separate the parts (idk), and so is in between the legs. You don’t have to, but I like to add highlights (lighter parts?) in places such as on the arms and on the front (middle part?)

For clothing (back), I like to add random thingies where the material? stuff? sticks out to add some dimension (idk) with the outer layer, and those stick-out parts are lighter (sometimes).

This makes no sense and I am horrible at tutorials.
