Do you remember the first steps you took? Your first great leap into the monumental universe before you. A mere innocent infant submerged in a complex reality of emotions, conflict and existence. Such a simple thing that we all take for granted. Do you remember how you felt? That sweet sense of victory. Euphoria filled and engulfed your lungs, embracing you in a warm welcome. You had reached the next stage of your long and fulfilling life. Your steps were slow. Heavy and steady they were. You were curious but careful. Such a cute sight indeed. The savoury sound of music in the background to ease the tension. It felt as if the world were watching, eager to see your next move. Would you stumble, or would you pace on? A victor in the eyes of those that mattered. Will you still pace on?

I remember my first steps. It was truly a good day. I believe my mum made some food which I can’t exactly remember what it was but I wanted it. I was very eager to eat it but obviously couldn’t walk. My mum loved recording moments of me and my older sisters as kids on her old video camera, capturing sweet nostalgic moments. God I miss my childhood. While I was on tape that day I kept demanding for that food, which may have been pancakes I think. I got impatient and got up, taking my first steps. They were slow and heavy, and certainly very loud. As a baby I used to wear these big shoes that would make a “clacking” noise as I walked, so you could hear me walking from 500 miles away.
My mum was visibly happy, practically celebrating her baby boy take his first steps. She felt so proud as a mother, given how I was born with a pretty bad speech delay as a child and didn’t start to talk until a long time. Nowadays that’s all I do XD. I got my pancakes in the end dw. I’m just glad she kept those moments. I still have that video camera to this day and will keep it for when I have my own children. I’ll show them my childhood and how good times were back in the early 2000s. Good times.
