Cinnabar

Cinnabar was the Dollmaker's masterpiece. Her wooden skin was lacquered in Urushi. Her hair was dyed with indigo. Her clothes were washi and celadon-colored silk fastened at her waist with a leather belt. Such was her beauty that a powerful spirit of nature, dazzled at her beauty, brought her to life so she could enjoy the world...

The spirit was very wrong though. Cinnabar hated being alive. The earth under her feet was too damp. The air too cool. Thought itself was a curse. Worst of all? The powers of the Kami attracted all sorts of plant life to her so that every morning, Cinnabar would yank vine roots from the crevices between her joints.

Oh, the Dollmaker was thrilled. Her creation enthralled the gods themselves. She gave her blessing to her artificial daughter and sent her on her way so she could find her own purpose.

At some point in time Cinnabar cracked her arm so bad it was dead. So she slogged it for long until she remembered the story of Kintsugi. So she filled her arm with gold and it revived.
