Trixy and Karolu had been traveling around for quite some time now.
As the woods thinned out into open landscape, Trixy saw an old, run-down, shed-like house in the distance.
"Look! There's a house." She pointed.
Karolu looked where she was pointing, "Let's go check it out- it could have ammo or other rations in it.."
They climbed the slope to the house, an overgrown path guiding the way.
As soon as they walked over the hill and neared the house, the rank stench of Plague and decay filled Trixy's nostrils.
She wrinkled her nose.
The house creaked and groaned in the wind, and a shingle even fell off as they watched.
"I'll go in and have a look," Karolu said, "You can wait out here."
Trixy opened her mouth to protest, then thought better of it.
As Karolu opened the grimy door and walked into the dark house, Trixy sat down and put her chin in her hand idly.
It seemed to be ages before anything happened, but then, as Trixy sat there, she heard loud crashing, groaning, and creaking from the house.
It was even followed by a small scream.
Alarmed, she lept to her feet.

She thought she heard another groan.

ehheeh
Karolu said, staring at it.
Trixy shuddered, "Something is very wrong here.. let's get out of here."
With that, they walked off into the distance.
And, as they left the house behind them, Trixy could have sworn she heard one more agonized groan coming from the house.

the end, you may now comment.
She said, puzzled.
"Was it not you that was screaming?"
"No.." He said, "You're probably just imagining things- all the Plague in the air can mess with your brain."
He looked a bit wary.
"Let's get out of here, anyway, though."
She nodded and they walked out.
"I found some ammo." He said, "But it was hard to pick through all the junk on the floor. I saw some things I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole."
Trixy snorted in amusement slightly as they walked out of the house.
No sooner than they stepped off the porch, Trixy tripped on something hard on the ground and fell.
"Wha-" She said, puzzled, as Karolu helped her up.
As she stood up, she realized what she had tripped on; a pistol lay in the grass, rusty and covered in what looked like blood.
"That wasn't there before.."
<I'd better go in and make sure Karolu's okay..>
Hesitantly she walked toward the house.
As she stepped onto the porch, a chill ran down her spine as she gazed into the foreboding, shadowy doorway.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the house.
It was very dark inside; the only light came from the gloom starlight filtering through the boarded up windows and cracks in the roof.
She appeared to be standing in a kitchen. The floor was very crowded with all sorts of junk and objects.
She guessed whoever lived here must have been a hoarder.
"Karolu?" She called testily.
No response came.
She walked up a mold-covered staircase.
"Hello..?"
"Trixy?"
She almost bumped into Karolu as he walked down the staircase.
"There you are! What happened?"
He blinked, "What do you mean?"
"I heard noises.."
