~A Wizard's Apprentice, P2~ (DESC)

The first challenge of my journey came up a lot sooner than I thought it might. I was going down the stone staircase to the foothills of the steep mountains, but I didn't make it far. The dark around me blinded me from the patch of loose pebbles on the path.
My feet slid out from under me. I landed hard on my side, but that wasn't the end of it. I tumbled down the last bit of the stairs and off the edge of the mountain-side path. Thankfully, I landed on a ledge, but my arm hurt badly.
And I was now stuck on the edge of a cliff.
"C'mon," I muttered to myself. "You can do this."
I cast a small healing spell on my arm--using hand magic because I had left my staff, which I was NOT allowed to do. Hand magic used more mana, and my master didn't teach it. He taught staff magic. My old mentor taught me hand magic, before I found out he was this evil wizard trying to end the world.
I sat on the edge of the mountain for a minute, catching my breath and recovering from the fall. But I needed to get as far away from the tower as possible before dawn, when they'll realize I'm not awake and discover I'm gone.
I got up, pressing myself against the stone wall so I didn't fall. It was time to go
