Wailing Windows

This personified liminal skin was inspired by Level 188 of the Backrooms, aka the “Windows” (I think). This was actually the first idea for a liminal skin I had which had actually inspired me to begin this whole collection but I’d started with the Poolrooms first since I have a better idea at the time what I wanted to do with it. With this one, I had some basic ideas but moulding it together was a bit tough. I knew that I wanted to scatter windows around the body and I went with that. Instead of using normal equally spaced out windows like the level actually has, I decided to merge the unsettling factor of level 188 with trypophobia. I figured in this case it would work since windows could act as holes. So I went about in creating a variety of different sized windows all dotted around in different positions. The various hole sizes came from trypophobia but also the Spot from Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse. I also saw this as a callback to my abandoned project of creating a collection of personified phobias. Maybe I’ll finish it one day let’s see. For now, enjoy this guy!
