My entry for the gemstone contest! I tried a lot of techniques I haven’t really done before, like hue shifting and better shading around the face.
Opal is my favourite gemstone (along with my birthstone) because of its pretty subtle pastel hues. It’s white overall, which is why I tried to make a very pale skin, but has flecks of shimmery green, pink, blue, yellow, etc., which I tried to incorporate. Opal symbolises both royalty and innocence, which is why I chose a pastel theme but gave her a crown.
