Sure!
It is a term for shading. Along with changing the saturation and lightness people may change the hue slightly (the circle thing around the square in the color picker). If they want to go lighter they will pick a color closer to yellow, for example they may go from red to a slightly orange ish red. If they want a color that's darker they will pick a color closer to blue, like going from orange to a slightly reddish orange. I recommend you look it up as it really makes skins look a lot better.
