You come home late after a tiring day of work/school. You eat dinner, do some homework/any extra work you didn't finish during the day, and by the time you're done you realise it's almost midnight. You decide to start getting ready for bed. You do your regular nighttime routine and by the time you go under the covers it's already past midnight. Just as you're beginning to fall asleep, your blood runs cold with a chilling realisation -
You forgot to do your duolingo lesson....
It's already past midnight, meaning that even doing it now couldn't make up for your mistake! You've heard terrible rumours about what happens when you lose your streak on duolingo - surely they're not true, right?
Then, you hear it - a creak from downstairs. You sit up in your bed, the hairs on the back of your neck standing up - another creak, closer to your room this time... the creaks continue to get closer and closer until you hear one right outside your door. A sinister voice shouts - "IT'S SPANISH OR VANISH!" You let out a blood curdling scream as the wood of your bedroom door cracks - a green owl rushing towards you is the last thing you see before everything goes black...
