Lynxes are nocturnal and hunts at night. Their fur is usually light brown, red, rusty, or gray color with dark spots. Their fur grows thicker in winter to keep them warm in cold climates.
They have short tails because tails are used to balance on trees, and since bobcats and the lynx, both belonging to the Lynx genus, usually hunt on the ground and in fields, they have not evolved to have a long tail. Longer tails will weigh them down and slow them down.

The top speed of a lynx is 80 kilometers per hour.
