Bones - Part 10

Twilight goes down in a swirl of flame. The setting of the evening star is always the same. Always beautiful. Raxem is routinely patrolling the valley. It has been years since the last bandits tried to steal from the crystal catacombs, but Raxem will never falter in protecting the sacred place. Suddenly she hears a single voice coming from the other side of the rocky ridge. She slinks towards the sound, spear ready in her hand, raised hood casting a shadow over her face.

She nears the intruders. They don’t seem like thieves, but she remains hidden, wary of their intentions. There are two intruders. In front, a tall one with long purple hair tied back with a length of twine stares scowling at a map. Behind her, a seemingly cheerful one with short, bright blue-green hair pulls a hoverbike with a coil of rope strapped to her belt.

Suddenly the blue haired one exclaims, “We’re almost to the top!”

The comment startles Raxem, and she slips, sending a cascade of pebbles down the hillside. The intruders have heard her, so she decides to reavel herself.

She takes up her most intimidating stance and steps out from behind a boulder to face the unwelcome wanderers.
