The wide ocean stretched from horizon to horizon, uninterrupted but for where the western pillar emerged from the waters, rising up to touch the top of the sky.
On the northern side of the pillar, a great arch reached over half of the sea, its forested slopes sweeping to the northwest, spilling out into the barren deserts and wastelands Raxem once called home.
Silhouettes of distant pillars glowed a dull magenta in the evening light, and the edges of the horizon widened as the ground gradually approached, and Raxem slipped into memory.
