Behind her, towering snowcapped peaks defined the vast range of mountains that surrounded the entirety of the Southern pole, their regal slopes glaring steadfast to the north as if to guard the immense web of pillars that lay within their ring.
The muted gray bluffs slid into the deep blue of the Southern Sea.
Although shallow and sandy near the shore, the ocean floor could drop unexpectedly in any place, devious currents spiraling into the depths.
From above, Raxem could see the network of sandy trails weaving just under the surface of the water, thin golden fingers reaching in vain for the feet of the mountains, precariously balanced above the bottomless ravines.
