Legend tells of a species that has a core inside which acts like a nuclear fusion reactor, able to harness the energy of nuclear fusion which us humans are still learning more about. The creature's core is over 100,000,000 degrees Celsius, Which makes even getting near it extremely dangerous. It is unknown what this creature does with the energy it creates, but this creature supposedly immortally lives in the center of the earth, keeping earth's core forever heated.
