Crimson's legs collapsed underneath her as the toxicity of their words sank in. She was a freak; worthless. With her lip quivering in shame, she found herself scraping up the books sprawled out in front of her. How could she be so naive? How could she think that she could fit in? She felt so foolish. As she reached for the final book, she noticed a pair of blue-soled shoes approach.

"Need some help?"

Crimson looked up to meet a pair of dazzling purple eyes. It was a girl from one of her classes, but Crimson couldn't remember their name. Before Crimson could even respond, the girl promptly bent down and handed her the remaining book.

"Thanks..." Crimson mumbled feebly.

"Hey... don't mind those guys- they always pick on the new kids," the girl would note before regaining herself and outstretching a hand to Crimson's aid. "I'm Amethyst."

Crimson took her hand with a bit of hesitation. "I- uh... I'm Crimson.."

"Nice to meet you, Crimson," the pair exchanged a few soft, coy smiles before Amethyst spoke again. "Well, I gotta go, see you around!"

"Cya-"

As Amethyst departed, Crimson couldn't help but feel a warmth in her chest. Perhaps... she would find her place here after all.
