Berryfur padded nervously up to Goldenstar’s den, sucking in a breath and stumbling inside.
“Is Dovefeather here?” she asked nervously, side glancing Shatterleap, their lilac- colorpoint deputy, who straightened, which he did when a she-cat was around.
Goldenstar shook his head, and as she turned around to leave, he whispered, “wait, Berryfur.” Reluctantly, she padded back to him and sat away from Shatterleap, curling her tail around her. She hated when tom cats looked at her like they were planning a future with her.
“Please be cautious,” he begged, his eyes serious enough to make her flinch. Sighing, he whispered, “Dovefeather may have a dangerous destiny, and she’s putting herself before her clan, as well as endangering you.” Lifting her chin defiantly, narrowing her eyes to slits, she said darkly, “I follow orders that Starclan allow. Dovefeather is obeying her ancestors as well as ours, mousebrain!” With that, she fled out from the den and out of camp, biting back her tears. Starclan didn’t deserve them now.
