inters.ex describes people who were born with s.ex characteristics that cannot fully be described as "male" or "female". they may be labelled as AXAB, or assigned X at birth, meaning that their external s.ex traits could not be identified as either male or female; however, many inters.ex people are AFAB or AMAB (assigned female/male at birth) with s.ex traits that are not visible.
