Face shading differs from skinner to skinner. Each one reflects the skinner's own style/taste. You want to do shading that you find that is easiest for you, it is okay to copy a few styles when your beginning and then develop your own.

Here are a few types of simple shading styles for the face that you can copy:

The first 3 (Front) - Typical skin colour shading with different eye types

The last 3 (Back) - Different skin colours but same shading.
