'Shadow' Cats

Brackenfoot spun around, fur fluffed. She was pretty sure she had heard a cat. Beside her, Kindlewing was chatting with Sunblaze and looked at her clanmate in concern.
"You okay?" Kindlewing asked, and Brackenfoot pretended she hadn't heard. All three cats jumped as a cat leaped out of the shadowed bushes, landing in a roll and giggling when she saw their expressions. The cat, Berryfur, purred playfully. "Too easy to scare you cats," she meowed. "Also, hello, where is Dovefeather? She seems to have... gone." Berryfur spun in a circle, looking saddened, and sniffed. "Um," Brackenfoot said softly, seeing Berryfur widen her eyes kindly at her. "I heard a wailing she-cat."
"Brackenfoot," Sunblaze whispered. "What do you mean? Are you SURE you heard that?" Kindlewing sighed. "What, so my clanmate cannot speak the truth? Sounds like what a Shadowclan cat would think." She meant it as a joke, and still, Sunblaze looked away and several of his clanmates stared in annoyance and anger. "We are ready to begin!" Mistedstar called from above, but at that second two Shadowclan cats launched themselves at Kindlewing, yowling with claws unsheathed as she shrieked.
