For those who are not keen on the Dungeons and Dragons style of gameplay, a Drow is meant to be the darker variant of an Elf, supposedly living deep underground and capturing anyone who dares to tread into their territory.

Honestly, if you think about what happens to skin when it is not exposed to sunlight for very long, this visual concept doesn't make much sense at all. But I'm just following what Wizards of the Coast designed at the time.
