So how I got better at skinning was first by looking at the skins on Minecraft and the clothes and stuff in the character creator on bedrock edition and tried to mimic that shading. Then later I started watching tutorials on YouTube. The ones I watched were from ElvenJedi and Lxnacorn. I would say find skins you really like and maybe trace a few of them and pay attention to the shading. Hue shifting can also make a skin look really cool, I don’t always do it but it can make a skin look really cool. Also when you’re shading from dark to light also try to increase saturation as well.
That was a lot, I can post some videos in the comments if you want more details.
