Kubai got his name after Kubai Shan who was legendary Grey Jedi warrior that claimed throne of sith kingdom and united two mandalorian clans. Kubai earned his name for his battle strategy as commander of Squad Element after battle for Quirian an icy world ocupied by separatist forces before that he was called 59 because his clone tag was RC-7659 and commandos mostly used their last two numbers to identify each other. It is told that he got his name from mandalorian warrior and clone commando trainer Kal Skirata.
