Then she started calling names.
"James Felix" boomed Professor McGonagall.
A tall boy with curly brown hair sat in the stool.
The Hat flinched, and put on a thinking face. "Ravenclaw!"
James bounced up, handed the hat carefully back to Professor McGonagall and skipped over to the Ravenclaw Table.
Then, of course,
"Amara Jacques"
Amara (The main character) stepped forward hesitantly and sat upon the old stool.
The Sorting Hat smirked, and was placed on her head. The hat didn't hesitate.
"Hufflepuff!"

The feeling of worry and anxiety overwhelmed her. She again breathed in, and out. A girl standing next to her looked as worried as she was, and she realized, looking around, everybody was. They'd all been accepted to the same school, they'd all been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. a female Professor introduced herself as Professor McGonagall. She glanced at her, and flicked a wand. She looked down, her suitcase had disappeared. She guided the first years into a large hall where the Sorting Ceremony took place. The Headmaster who told everyone he was Professor Dumbledore told how it went. Professor McGonagall would call your name, you'd come up and sit in the stool. She'd place an old hat atop your head and you'd be sorted by the Sorting Hat. Simple as that.

Chapter Uno



Her chest heaved as she stood silently in front of a large school, scared of what waited for her inside. She tapped a stone brick in the pattern: Knock-Knock Smack.
The stone dissolved into nothing. Unfazed, she stepped inside dragging her leather trunk behind her. She breathed in and out and saw a crowd of children her age. She stepped over and blended into the crowd as well as she could.
