Created by the darkness as a counter part to the scientist, he controls the darkness. Here is the latest dialog from when he awoke

genos: I am Genos. Created by the darkness to be the opposite of you and to control the darkness

scientist: light? I control the sphere. Not the light. What created you called itself the darkness because it saw the sphere as the light.

Genos: So then what am I?

scientist: Me but a dark version. you might want to start building a home. Things get wild fast
