Koala

Here is a cute koala for you guys! It was a request from ThisMinorIsAMiner, enjoy!

KOALA FUN FACTS:
- Koalas aren’t bears- they’re actually marsupials! Their closest relative is the wombat, which is still in a different family.
- Baby Koalas (joeys) are adorable- its a fact
- They have a strict diet of eucalyptus leaves, and eat up to one kilogram of it a day! It's poisonous to most animals, but not our fuzzy friends!
- ‘Koala’ means ‘no drink’ in the Australian Aboriginal language, because it was thought that they never drank, yet they do in fact drink water when necessary
- Eucalyptus leaves give very little energy, so koalas sleep up to 18 hours a day!
- Koalas are losing homes due to excessive tree-clearing, forcing them onto the ground and into danger, and their numbers are declining, but new laws are being passed that will hopefully protect them.
