Murphy was given his name by his mother as it means "sea warrior". Murphy, while living in the Kaido region is not from the region, but another one. Murphy doesn't like to share much about his past, but his past is the reasoning why he's not big on making friends outside of his Gyarados(Scar), however, he's made friends with the Pokemon League Champion(known as Laim) and strongest Gym Leader(Kirby) of the Kaido region.
