Sorry for replying a week late! A tip would be to shade using color gradients as you go darker. Like yellow to orange, or blue to purple. I have been skinning for 2 years and I would say it takes awhile to develop a style of skinning you adore. For outfits I would either make something simple, something in my closet, or google an outfit, maybe even switch the color a few times before I start shading. When making skins, I sometimes also use the color wheel to see what colors go well together.
