Tysm! This all really helped! And if you ever have anymore tips for me you can put it here! Tysm!
Colder colours for shadows, warmer for brighter bits:
Cold: blue, cyan, green-ish
Warm: Yellow, red, orange
There are different types of hue shifting so I said one of them incase they wanted to try it, see how it goes and decide whether they like it, or if they don't <3
very nice, keep working on it you have true potential <3
well, I'm still learning but I have a hair shading technique https://www.minecraftskins.com/skin/16338575/how-to-shade-hair/ here is a skin for it!
what I like to do is look at other peoples skins, see their shading styles, and kind of merge them together to make my own style <3 I don't know if this helped but I hope it did
Here is a little advice on how to hue shift:
Red/pink: For shadows go to purple, highlights go to orange / yellow
Orange: For shadows shift across to red, highlights to yellow
Yellow: For shadows shift across to orange (possibly red), highlights you should just lighten the colour (no hue shift needed tbh)
Green: For shadows shift across to blue, highlights go to yellow
Blue: For shadows use indigo / purple (depending on the shade), highlights go to cyan, lighten the colour or dare to use green lmao
Indigo: For shadows use purple, for highlights use a lighter blue
Purple: For shadows use a grey-ish darker purple or a darker blue, for highlights use blue

Hope this helped <3
