About an hour later, the forest ended and Raylen was confronted by a town. The birds all flew away, leaving her with the fawn. Suddenly, someone shot out from the trees and grabbed her wrist. She struggled to get away, but more came on top of her. A sharp pain shot into her neck, and she passed out.
front of her. It stopped and landed on the fawn's head. Then, more birds came and soon, they were all around her. Then, one hopped in front of her. More came, and formed a line. They went forward through the trees. Suddenly, Raylen remembered the poem on her map.

The birds, who fly, may help you, wherever you may be,
So take their gifts gladly, for it may be helpful to you or me.

This was it! The birds were helping her get out of the forest! She followed them gladly.
She reached out her hand and touched it's nose. It seemed not to mind. Then, she walked past it and went on her way, but it followed. Raylen stopped again and looked back. It stopped and pretended not to notice. Raylen chuckled and continued traveling, fully aware of her parasite. Suddenly, she realized that there was no path under her feet. She looked around frantically for any sign of one, but there was none. She was just about to turn around and go the way she had came, when a bird flew in...

The next morning, the woman provided her with fresh supplies and sent her on her way. It was a cold crisp morning and the birds sang in the trees. Raylen started on her way in the forest on an old overgrown path. Here and there, rabbits hopped into the bushes, and sometimes, she spotted a deer. After she had been traveling for about half an hour, a fawn ran out into the path in front of her. They both stopped at stared at each other. Then Raylen approached it.
''Why, you of course! Your a human! How could you not know that? I'ma human and your one too! Were all humans? Where did you grow up?''
''I-I'm a Kel not a Human. Your a human, but i think I'm a Kel...''
''A Kel!'' cried the old woman, ''Ha! But ok!'' The conversation ended, and the old woman led her into an old back room where she was to stay.

That night, Raylen lay in bed and wondered at the old woman. How could she not know what a Kel is? How-
She remember no more, for she had fallen asleep
''Indeed...'' the woman pondered, ''The river that rushes high, will be a weapon even to cry. Whatever THAT means.'' Raylen took the map back and finished her pie.
''I think i need to go-'' she stammered.
''Alright,'' she answered, ''suit yourself. It's growing dark though.''
''Oh, then may I stay for the night?''
''Of course!''
''I have one question though,'' Raylen announced, still wondering at the woman and how she was so careless, ''what are...Humans?'' The old woman was taken aback.
