He is a Maverick Hunter who fights alongside Zero and later Axl, with the intention of maintaining peace and stability in the world and protecting Humans and Reploids from the Mavericks, although X would like nothing better than the opportunity to stop fight. Because of his aversion to violence, X initially was Rank B-Class Hunter, but he eventually went up to S-Class Hunter. X is the first robot to have sophisticated behavioral adaptation technology, based on Dr. Light's final design. Dr. Cain, the scientist who found it, was never fully able to analyze X's internal systems and system code. Despite this, Cain was able to replicate X's general architecture, making X the precursor and the Reploids were put into production. This makes him the proverbial father of the Reploids. Although X and Zero are not technically Reploids, as they are the first of their kind, they are known as Reploids to reduce confusion.
