Figure 1:
So just make these weird-shaped things at the top and bottom. Leave 2 empty pixels between the weird shape things.
Figure 2:
Go one shade lighter and do what it shows.
Figure 3: Go another shade lighter and do what it shows. (I'm sorry im really bad at explaining lol)
Figure 4: Go another shade lighter and fill in all the gaps, giving you your final result!
