Aternos Chronicles--Chapter 2

Uh, Pixiestory XDDD

I waited out hordes of zombies in that half-built house, nearly starved to death, and went brain dead as I built. For lights, we gathered soul sand into lanterns and set it ablaze. Weeping vines grew from the eaves. Tall windows barely defended us from the elements, but we prevailed.

Finally, at long last, my mission was complete. I stepped back, admiring the first of many homes in the village I would soon rule.

Once I had gathered eleven diamonds, Teal used her magic to bring me hurtling to the surface. I gasped for breath, giving away the majority to her and my other two comrades, Yeerbles and Bunny.

Giving up on mining after that mishap, I began to build a small abode for myself and Teal. I foolishly offered to give her a greenhouse roof, and I spent many, many days gathering the needed resources, forging them into glass, and crafting a ceiling.

Finally, I had traversed the dangers and approached a small patch of glittering diamond ore. I raised my pickaxe, brought it down, and...

There was a lava pool beneath me that the diamond went freediving into at breakneck speed.

''I thought you and your fiance were working on getting nicer, Teal-''

''You had it coming.''

I hissed in agony, preparing myself as I gathered more of the precious, precious gems.

My world was too bright, but I had reason for that. Part of the burden to bear with carrying magic. After I had asked Teal to begin gathering crimson stems for the cottage I would soon build us, I slowly created a staircase into the earth, and when I was level with the diamonds, I brought my magic into full force. The worthless
stone ceased to be seen, revealing the treasures of the earth.

And lava. A crap ton of lava.

I'm telling you, half the time I spent mining was avoiding the stuff.

C'mon, the world is boring without a little universe-bending magic.

I fluttered into existence on the second day to discover a pre-built base nestled into a cave. Furnaces glowed with coal, brightly colored beds sat in the corner, and I was immediately greeted by my fellow storywriter.

''Becca!'' she cried, undying admiration and love in her eyes.
