Shadowstar glared at the two of them, and plunged back through the thick undergrowth.
'Come, Redpaw. We should get home.' Rosestar mewed.
'W-w-why did he think I was in Shadowclan territory?' Redpaw asked.
'Don't worry about him,' Rosestar replied. 'For now, let's get you home.'
The young she-cat didn't protest.
After what felt like hours, Redpaw and Rosestar finally reached the Thunderclan camp, laden down with Redpaw's prey.
'You hunted well.' Rosestar said.
Redpaw nodded in reply, placing her catch on the fresh-kill pile.
'Go eat your fill, my child.'
'Did I pass my warrior assessment?'
'You will see.'
Redpaw stared in amazement as the cat she had seen only in gatherings towered over her.
Shadowstar was eyeing Rosestar and her daughter with amber eyes that held an icy glare.
'Well?' Shadowstar mewed. 'Tell us apprentice. Did you hunt in Shadowclan territory?'
'I-I-I... N-no' Redpaw sputtered.
'Fine, then.' Shadowstar said. 'I'm sure-'
'And you, Shadowstar. What are you doing in Thunderclan territory?' Rosestar hissed, cutting him off.

Leaping away before the dog trampled her, she bolted, all caution forgotten.
Long after she had crossed over into thunderclan territory, and the dog was far away, she slowed her frantic sprint, and sat down by a tree.
At that moment, Rosestar hopped out of a nearby bush.
'Where were you? It is almost moonrise.' she mewed, her wry meow tinted with worry.
'Hunting, I bet' Came another voice. 'In our territory.'
A black tom, even bigger than Rosestar, stepped silently out of the bushes.

Redpaw tried hard to to panic. 'If Im caught, I might never be a warrior!' She thought.
Focusing hard on her surroundings, she tried to scent her way back, but the sweet sent of pine covered any trails she could have followed back to Thunderclan territory.
'You can do this.' The young she-cat told herself.
A bark shattered what silence Redpaw had been trying hard not to break.
'I cant do this! I cant do this!' she wailed silently, as a huge brown dog leapt out of the bushes.
Leaping away before the dog trampled her, she bolted, all caution forgotten.
