Hades fell in love with Persephone while she was picking flowers. She fell in love with Hades, but her mother, Demeter, missed her so much, that she shut herself off from the world, and so fall and winter overtook the Earth. Due to this, Zeus talked Hades into releasing her. But before she left, he fed Persephone a Pomegranate seed, ensure her return to the Underworld. So she lives in the Underworld with Hades during fall and winter, and on Earth during spring and summer. She is half of both worlds...
